Our kickboxing classes for kids 5yrs + promote physical health and agility, discipline and concentration - it’s a great way for them get some exercise, meet other children and learn valuable skills which will stay with them for life.
Our grading by belt system provides a useful way for children to identify and to focus on moving 'up the ranks', creating a sense of satisfaction and self-fulfilment whilst building their self-esteem and confidence along the way.
Our sparring is ‘semi-contact/light continuous’, which is carefully-supervised with the emphasis on discipline, accuracy & control combined with an emphasis on using strategy & the mind to overcome the opponent rather than gratuitous, brute force, reinforcing positive behaviour and self-restraint.
Kickboxing isn’t just about physical prowess – as a sport it’s also about training the mind and spirit so they learn skills they can take into other areas of their life, such as improved concentration and discipline. Mentally and physically it imparts invaluable gross and minor motor neuron skills as well as enhancing self-defence awareness.
Classes are every Tues & Thurs @ 4.45pm, Sat @ 12.15 & Sun @ 11am.
Due to popular demand, we also have Cubs Kickboxing for 4yr olds. Local families continually felt there was lack of activities available for their younger children and siblings of our current students. Every class we were seeing younger brothers and sisters copying their older siblings – often intensely focussed! Cubs’ has been created to develop basic skills & movements valuable to any sport as well as focus & discipline. As an introductory system into martial arts it provides a strong foundation to enable the children to move progressively into the belt grading system as well as prepare them for their introduction into mainstream school & team sports. Cubs’ is every Tuesday @ 4pm, which also helps some of our parents co-ordinate drop offs & collections of both their younger & older children.
